Recreational Aviation Museum

JLPC is in the process of collecting memorabilia and photographs that depict the origins of “grassroots” flying. Stories of the pioneers of aviation in South Africa adorn the walls of the clubhouse in the form of paintings and photographs, dating back to 1919. This is a one-of-a-kind in South Africa.

Grassroots flying at its best

Baragwanath is all about providing an environment that is suited to the recreational pilot: those who have an insatiable love of flying and of anything that flies. Without the complications of commercial aviation, the airfield offers an opportunity for pilots to mingle, swap stories and trade rides in their respective aircraft.

Regular flying events

JLPC endeavours to foster many opportunities for pilots to meet, in the form of monthly themed gatherings to fly-aways. See the events tab for details.

No landing fees

AVGAS is available on request

The airfield is most active on Sunday afternoons from midday, where members chat over a braai at the clubhouse, give their aircraft a wash and most importantly go for a flight!
